Abi Ferrin

Abi Ferrin believes in empowering women, and above all else sells freedom and purpose. Her first designs emerged from her mother’s sewing machine 22 years ago when she was six years old. She was born in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and is a descendant of the first pioneers to the beautiful Teton frontier. The freedom that these settlers sought is still something that defines her and emerges in the clothing she designs.

This can also be seen in the diversity of the various women she dresses including Hollywood’s finest celebrities, Texas Women from socialites to college students, and Saudi Arabian princesses. She is passionate about empowering women through her designs, and has used her company, with the help of her sister Kelly Ferrin, as a tool to assist and finance causes worldwide which help oppressed and abused women overcome these atrocities and become self-sufficient members of their societies.

While empowering women worldwide through her fashion business, Abi Ferrin and her diverse team also seek to empower their equally diverse base of customers. The Abi Ferrin motto is “Fashion with Freedom and Purpose.” It is this purpose that drives the brand and her design aesthetic. Women, of all ages and races, who wear the collection frequently comment that they have never felt better about themselves then when they don Abi Ferrin’s female flattering designs.

On January of 2007, Abi Ferrin accepted her prize package for winning “Texas Next Top Designer.” Other awards she has won include CBS News ‘Texan with Character’, Modern Luxury “Fresh Face in Fashion”, and D Magazine’s “Top 5 Stylemakers in Dallas Fashion.” Ferrin’s designs have been spotted on Molly Sims, Roslyn Sanchez, Kimberly and Alana Stewart, among many others, and she was involved with style elements of Jaime Foxx music video ‘Unpredictable’ where she got to work with famed producer Hype Williams.

FALL-WINTER 2008 COLLECTION

Doucette Duvall

Stephanie Doucette and Annebet Duvall met in March 2003 as neighbors in Manhattan's Little Italy, where they chit-chatted on their Mulberry Street fire escape.

A few years later, on Valentine's Day 2005, the pair launched Doucette Duvall, a dress and coat line that sought to fill a fashion void in their own wardrobes. Their whimsical yet timeless designs embodied the wit and elegance of their mothers, grandmothers and aunties. And like the women who influenced their fashion style, the designers strongly encourage the personal interpretation of each piece.

Doucette Duvall practices environmental and social responsibility by manufacturing the entire collection in New York City's historic garment district, using pre-existing fabric and trim, shunning extraneous garment bags and hang tags, and shipping in recycled boxes only. Look for the "little green dress" in each collection as a reminder of their commitment to Madame Earth. A portion of the proceeds from the lgd are donated to the non-profit group, Build it Green, who share a similar reuse ideal. For more information, please visit: www.bignyc.org.

Doucette Duvall is selectively distributed in fine and specialty boutiques throughout the United States and abroad

Edun

Additional Styles not shown will be arriving Fall/Winter 2008

EDUN is a socially conscious clothing company launched in Spring 2005 by Ali Hewson and Bono. The company's mission is to create beautiful clothing while fostering sustainable employment in developing areas of the world, particularly Africa. EDUN founded on the premise of trade, not aid as a means of building sustainable communities. The company works on a micro-level to help build the skill sets of factories where the clothes are produced. EDUN is currently produced in India, Peru, Tunisia, Kenya, Uganda, Lesotho, Mauritius and Madagascar. In addition, EDUN acts as a voice encouraging the fashion community to do business in Africa and thereby help bring the continent out of extreme poverty.

This season EDUN pulls musical and intellectual inspiration from Nocturne - a musical composition inspired by, or evocative of, the night. The name nocturne was first applied to pieces in the 18th century, where it indicated an ensemble piece in several movements, played normally in the evening. Nocturnes are tranquil, expressive and lyrical and at times a bit dark. In true EDUN fashion this season's collection is a blend of nature, nightfall and music with a touch of rock and roll edge. The collection has a sophisticated tone and monochromatic palette with a focus on texture.

Fin

FIN-Oslo - More than luxurious: Fin is exquisite, made with elegance and style. FIN is where design and awareness are combined into fashion. From their headquarters in Oslo, Norway, new designs and new environmentally friendly and socially responsible ideas of fashion production are continually born. When the idea of FIN was conceived, FIN set out on global path that has led to many different corners of the world and many people. Levels of perfection in quality, design and social awareness define FIN's style described as ECOLUX.

FIN's designer Per Age Sivertsen adds passion to all his FIN creations along with carefully selecting materials to achieve the finest expression: organic cotton provides the luxury of an environmentally friendly textile, hand-spun wild silk has beautiful textures, and organic alpaca is rare and precious. To recognize the hard labor that has gone into producing the fabric, FIN utilizes fair-trade certified cotton.

Scandinavian fashion label FIN is an amalgamation of Nordic fashion design and green business. FIN is renowned for high quality organic/fair-trade products with wardrobe longevity. Boasting a thoroughly carbon neutral collection, the brand purchases carbon credits from UN approved initiatives each season, setting a benchmark for the Co2 level emitted in both production and transport and thus giving back to the environment.

Larsen Gray

pictured above Nora Caliguri from Season One of PROJECT RUNWAY launched an eco-friendly Larsen Gray collection Spring 2008.

LARSEN GRAY--owned by Authentic Lifestyle Products, has been one of the largest providers of organic and sustainable materials to the fashion industry for three years. Along with being mindful of the environment, the company helps hundreds of families in Lesotho Africa, with health programs and support through its manufacturing. Larsen Gray, a project that we started for a younger more fashionable girl strives to do its best for the environment, labor, and the consumer as well.

While it is not completely feasible yet to have the type of styles and trims we have 100 percent sustainable, we do our best to have our garments mostly if not 100 percent made with these materials. Finding new and interesting ways to be eco is another thing love to do. The fabrics we use include organic cotton, soybean fiber, bamboo fiber, eco-wool, recycled wool, recycled polyester, silk (which is already a natural fiber) and our new cool find for fall, nature vinyl. (fabric made in a low emissions factory.)

Larsen Gray is designed by Nora Caliguri and her good friend from Pratt Institute Rachelyn Porter. The Collection is simple, feminine and chic. We especially like the ruffled tank and cropped jacket.

Pierce Denim

Piercing the Jeans Market

Using the finest denim and a body sculpting system that accentuates a woman's shape in the waist and bottom, Pierce Jeans features different washes that highlight the depth of color and offers cuts ranging from boot-cut, slim to trouser, short, and capri.

Something that truly differentiates Pierce Jeans from the rest of the pack is that it's giving away a significant chunk of its company's profit to help feed children all over the world.

Pierce Jeans was named for the owner's youngest son Pierson, who asked his father to "create a brand to help children who are needy, hungry, and unfortunate."

Each pair of jeans comes with a unique, hand-stitched symbol on the back pocket that represents the country or continent that Pierce Jeans will support that year. Brown represents Cmabodia, blue is for Mongolia and green symbolizes Africa, for example.

By giving profits from their denim line to organizations like Worldvision and Kids of Kilimanjaro, Pierce Jeans is using the jeans craze to make a real difference through fashion.

Ryan Rowe

Industry veterans Ryan Ringholz and Rowe Samieian (photographed in Beverly Hills) struck out on their own to launch their namesake brand March 2008, using Vacchetta leather (a variety favored by Louis Vuitton), hand-painted canvas, and vegetable dyes to create a diverse selection of shoes ranging from finely crafted casual sneakers and sandals to down-to-business English lace-ups and driving mocs.

Yed Omi

Yed Omi: Jewelry designer Naomi Campos has been working with metal for 11 years. Her love of working and manipulating metal has turned into an obsession. Then came gemstones... in 2001 YedOmi Jewelry was born. YedOmi is the vision of Naomi and Yeder Campos of unique, hand fabricated, artisan jewelry. Ironically YedOmi means "from mother's hands" in Arabic.

The magic happens in their studio in Portland, OR. Naomi brings all the ingredients together and with the help of her husband, Yeder, they create unique, beautiful jewelry. Each piece is handcrafted and often one of a kind. The ocean and nature are main inspirations behind the designs of YedOmi Jewelry. Age old techniques are used to hand make each piece of jewelry. Their intricate metal work is brought to life by adding beautiful gemstones the Earth has created. "We push each other's limits when we're in the studio creating. When Yeder says that a color combination is wrong, I know I've got it right!"

New Unique Pieces will be arriving this September.....
